A view of the Alta Ski area, outside Salt lake City.

Salt Lake City was one of the great highlights of my highly eventful 2007 tour. I recall feeling strangely at home there - some combination of geography, timing, and a comfortable host. There was also the odd thrill of feeling like a cork when I jumped in the Great Salt Lake. And there was the beautiful drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon, to Alta and the curiously spelled Cecret Lake, for an icy plunge.

The weather wasn't quite as good this time, but my hosts were so nice they made up for that. This painting was done after another trip to Cecret Lake.
