The East Slope of Sentinel Peak
	Sentinel Peak (better known as "A" Mountain) sits just southwest of downtown Tucson. The large letter "A" laid out in whitewashed stones on its upper east slope is visible from much of the city, making the mountain a beloved landmark, at least for some of us. For years I'd enjoyed looking at it, and once, when I was about 10, I'd been driven up to the top for an Easter sunrise service. But I'd never before hiked around on its lower slopes. This view is taken from a short distance upslope, on the southeast side of the mountain, above Mission Road.
