		The I-40 bridge, just west of Memphis, TN
		In Memphis I stayed with my wife, Sonja, who teaches at UM. I've spent a lot of time in Memphis and love exploring near the river. For a few years I'd been trying unsuccessfully to find someone with a boat to take me out on the Mississippi. On this visit, the editor of the weekly Memphi Flyer agreed to give me a little boat tour. We had fun, walked on sand bars, ate snacks, and even found a safe spot for me to take a swim. I will eventually send him a nice little painting of the river in thanks for the gracious "hospitality" - maybe this one.
